Leeana Miller Tankersley was born and raised in San Diego, California. She holds English degrees from Liberty University and West Virginia University and has worked in various ministry positions including the pastoral staff of Flood Church.
In 2003, Leeana married Steve Tankersley, an active duty Navy SEAL who is, in her words, “very easy on the eyes.” Eight days after their wedding, Leeana moved to the Middle East where she and Steve lived for a year while he completed his tour on the U.S. base in Bahrain.
Currently, Leeana fills her days with writing and workshops and mothering. Her first book, Found Art: Discovering Beauty in Foreign Places, is about the year she lived in Bahrain and her journey of discovering the beauty God has created out of the unlikely raw materials of her life.
Drawing on the various themes from Found Art, Leeana also offers workshops and retreats that create space for self-reflection and self-expression, which she considers necessary components of healing and transformation. “I believe creating is one of the most essentially spiritual things we can do. If we can live inspired to contribute originally to our world, then we’ve really found some magic.”
On her hip at any given moment is one of her b/g twins, Luke Stephen and Lane Watkins. Leeana and Steve and the “Tiny Tanks” live in San Diego and dream of someday owning a farmhouse in the Wine Country. In the meantime, they are living with Leeana’s mom in the same house, incidentally, where chapter 13 takes place.
